On December 5 and 6,
Save Mount Diablo guided volunteers for a habitat
restoration project at one of our properties on
Marsh Creek Road. The goal of the project is to
restore riparian woodland habitat back to its
natural state and allow native species to
re-establish and thrive in the Marsh Creek drainage.
This is a unique opportunity to participate hands-on
in the restoration of a creek corridor and help
provide habitat for the diverse plants and animals
living in the surrounding areas.
Thanks to many
volunteers who came out, removed native species, dug
holes and planted native plants. To protect
them from the cold, plants were covered with bags
for a few days.
Here is what one of
the volunteers said:
"OMG! that
was more fun then i could of imagined, i
cant believe that is something i had to
do for school. I had such a great time
and i met alot of really nice people. i
was wondering if there is any way i can
stay involved with your program. i love
nature and the beauty it provides our
world and i was just excited to be out
there because not only did i enjoy a
work out (weird i know!) but it was fun
and really relaxing to be surrounded by
all that nature."
