Diablo Trail Endurance

VOLUNTEERS General Information
Clothing: Please
dress appropriately for doing manual work outdoors.
No flip-flops! Our advise is to wear close-toed,
comfortable shoes. Bring layers, as it may be cool in
the morning/evening and hot during the afternoon.
Hats and sunscreen are also strongly advised.
Food and drinks:
Save Mount Diablo will provide volunteers with
water but please bring your reusable waterbottles. If you are volunteering for a shift of more than
a four hours, Save Mount Diablo will provide you with
dinner (shifts on Friday evening) or lunch (shifts on
Saturday). If you are working four hours or less,
please plan to either eat before you come or bring your
own food.
Training:
All Volunteers who have signed up
are asked to attend a information and training meeting
(dinner) on Tuesday,
June 23 at 6 pm. Please meet at Summit Ranch, 100 Summit
Ranch Road in Alamo. Pizza will be provided!

Volunteers who are signed up to do the following jobs
will meet at base camp:

Parking

Registration, distribute information

Set up (camp/kitchen)

Dinner service

Clean up (dinner/campsite)

Vet check at the Finish Line (10:30am-2pm and
10:30am-5:30pm shifts)

Drag and point riders who are starting at the
beginning of the trail

Start and finish line timers
-
Trail markers
DIRECTIONS TO BASE CAMP: Base camp and the start and
finish line will be at Castle Roack Park, 1700 Castle
Rock Road in Walnut Creek.

Hwy 24/I-680 N:
-
From CA-24 E take the I-680 N exit toward
Concord/Sacramento
-
Keep right at the fork, follow signs for Ygnacio
Valley Rd

Turn right at Ygnacio Valley Rd

Turn right at Walnut Ave
-
At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto Castle
Rock Rd.
-
Go straight, past Northgate High School. Follow
signs until you see volunteer parking area on your
right.
From I-680 S:
-
Take I-680 S to the Treat Blvd. exit.

Turn left onto N. Main St.
-
Turn left onto Treat Blvd.

Turn right onto Oak Grove Rd and continue on Oak
Grove Rd. after crossing Ygnacio Valley.

At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit
onto Castle Rock Rd
-
Go straight, past Northgate High School. Follow
signs until you see volunteer parking area on your
right.
Vet Check Points—Juniper Campground, Curry Point and
Diablo Ranch
Volunteers who are signed up for the 6am to 9am vet
check, vet secretaries and P&R crew will meet at
Curry Point.

Danville/San Ramon (South Gate): From Diablo Road turn
left onto Mt. Diablo Scenic Boulevard. At the Park
boundary the road becomes South Gate Road. Continue up
the mountain, past the entrance station and past Rock
City. Park in the Curry Point view area on the right.

From
Walnut Creek (North Gate): Take North Gate Road up the
mountain, past the entrance station. Turn right at the
junction with South Gate Road. Take South Gate Road
(down) for approximately 1 mile to Curry Point.
Volunteers who are signed up for the 7:30am to
10:30am vet check, vet secretaries and P&R crew will
meet at Juniper Campground.

Danville/San Ramon (South Gate): From Diablo Road turn
left onto Mt. Diablo Scenic Boulevard. At the Park
boundary the road becomes South Gate Road. Continue up
the mountain. Turn right at the junction with North
Gate Road and continue up Summit Road. Juniper
Campground is approximately 2 miles from the junction.

Walnut Creek (North Gate): Take North Gate Road up the
mountain, past the entrance station. Turn left at the
junction with South Gate Road and continue up Summit
Road. Juniper Campground is approximately 2 miles from
the junction.
Volunteers who are signed up for the 9am to noon vet
check, vet secretaries and P&R crew will meet at
Diablo Ranch.

From
Danville/San Ramon (South Gate): Go to Mt. Diablo
Scenic Boulevard and turn left. At the Park boundary the
road becomes South Gate Road. Continue up the
mountain. Take a left at the junction and go down on
North Gate Road. Diablo Ranch is approximately 3.5
miles past the junction.

Walnut Creek (North Gate): Take North Gate Road up the
mountain, past the entrance station. Diablo Ranch is
off North Gate Road, approximately 9 miles from the
entrance gate. |
