Volunteer Help Preserve Mount Diablo for Wildlife and People to Enjoy Forever
Join Save Mount Diablo’s passionate, energetic and dedicated volunteers. There are plenty of opportunities to help us protect natural lands on and around Mount Diablo. Read below to find the volunteer opportunities that fit your availability and skills or call us and we will find the best volunteer job for you! The list below is a sample of opportunities but more are available. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out our volunteer form and contact Emily Egan, our Volunteer Coordinator, by email, or call 925-947-3535. Save Mount Diablo hosts several recreational, friend-raising and fund raising events per year. SMD events are made possible through the efforts of many enthusiastic volunteers. From event planning committees to course marking, working at the event itself on registration, aid stations, food stations, parking, etc., we are looking for dedicated individuals who have time to give to save the mountain.
For more information and to sign up as a volunteer please email Emily. We are looking for dedicated individuals to help preserve even more of the natural lands by representing Save Mount Diablo at community events like Earth Day at Mount Diablo State Park, Heritage Days at Borges Ranch, or at Trailheads. We will train you and give you materials and handouts. See the full Outreach Volunteer Description. Help in the Office Save Mount Diablo leads fun and informative hikes on the Mountain, at all levels of intensity, in the Spring and Fall. This is a great way to meet new people who share an interest in Mount Diablo. Many participants share their knowledge of the diverse wildflowers, birds, trees and geological features of the Mountain. At the same time, hike leaders educate hike participants about new and potential additions to the State and Regional Parks, as well as regional planning issues. If you are an experienced hiker and would like to learn how to lead hikes, we’ll provide training. Call George Phillips at (925) 947-3535 or check the hike schedule for the next Hike Leader Workshop. Restore Lands with DiRT (Diablo Restoration Team) Members of our all-volunteer Stewardship Committee care for SMD acquisitions, from the smallest (a few acres) to the largest (several hundred acres). For some larger projects, we invite volunteers to come out and help. Please see our DiRT section to learn more and get your hands dirty. Advocate for Mount Diablo |
