Save Mount Diablo’s Signature Fundraising Gala

Join us for the 18th annual Moonlight on the Mountain

September 7, 2019 | 4:00-10:00 pm

About the Gala

Moonlight on the Mountain is a dramatic outdoor event¬†beneath the stars, held in Mount Diablo State Park along Mount Diablo’s stunning China Wall.¬†

Guests are transported up the mountain’s slopes where they are treated to an elegant three-course meal, live music, and both live and silent cocktail auctions—all while surrounded by the unparalleled, majestic views Mount Diablo has to offer.

This gala dinner draws a sellout crowd of more than 500 individuals, including elected officials, and conservation-minded corporate partners and local businesses.

Moonlight on the Mountain benefits Save Mount Diablo by helping to raise essential funds that will allow us to continue our mission-critical work: to preserve, defend and restore the wild, natural landscapes and wildlife habitat at risk of development, right here in our backyard—for you and future generations to enjoy.¬†

Moonlight Reflections – 2018

Thank you for celebrating with us at Moonlight on the Mountain!

With your generous support, we raised over $460,000critical funds that will allow us to continue our work preserving the natural lands and wildlife still at risk.

We are grateful to our ‘Diablo Co-sponsors’ Blackhawk-Nunn and Concord Feed, all of our generous event sponsors, our committed volunteers, and especially to our guests who made this year’s Moonlight on the Mountain such a wonderful and successful event.

More than 500 community members and elected officials came together in Mount Diablo State Park to celebrate our successes of the past year and raise their paddles in support of Save Mount Diablo’s important conservation work to preserve land on and around Mount Diablo. Thank you for making the night memorable! You are an important member of the Save Mount Diablo family and the party would just not be the same without you.

We hope you had a fabulous evening with the added bonus of learning a bit more about Save Mount Diablo’s work. Your presence and support at the event made it a great success and reinforced the importance of land preservation in our community. You are making a significant difference in helping us to preserve Diablo’s natural lands – and the plants and animals that live here. With your continued support, we can ensure that the remaining 60,000+ acres are protected for the mountain’s wildlife, all of us, and future generations.

We hope you will join us again next year.

How it all Started

The first Moonlight on the Mountain was held at China Wall within Mount Diablo State Park in 2002, in the same location that it continues to be held today. It was a relaxing, intimate evening and was attended by just 120 people. Guests enjoyed a four-course meal and wine around their dining tables, illuminated only by battery lanterns and the light of the full moon. The dinner was accompanied by an acoustic string quartet ensemble. It was quite the undertaking for a small staff and group of volunteers to arrange everything, from planning the event to working the setup and breakdown of the affair. All in all, the first Moonlight gathering was a great success and it inspired us to continue to grow.

Today we have a much larger staff, hundreds of volunteers, and the event has grown to support 500+ attendees. Moonlight on the Mountain is a unique opportunity to celebrate this land, connect people to our work, and raise the critical funds needed to protect these irreplaceable wild lands. We hope you will join us next year!
