Join us for a leisurely stroll along Pine Creek in the Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area located adjacent to Mount Diablo State Park and Walnut Creek Open Space. The area is dominated by oak woodlands and prominent sandstone formations. Peregrine falcons nest in some of the rock formations. Be sure to bring plenty of water, a snack, and dress in layers. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended.

Meet: Orchard Staging Area right before 1700 Castle Rock Road, Walnut Creek, CA 94598
Directions: Exit I-680 on Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek and drive east. After about three miles turn right on Walnut Avenue. After about two miles turn right on Oak Grove Road, then bear right onto Castle Rock Road and follow it to the Orchard Staging Area on the right (this lot is closed during the winter and wet weather). There is informal parking near the park entrance at the end of Castle Rock Road.
